Cherry Pie!

My dad is driving up to NC as I type this and I am so excited for him to get here! Any time my parents come up here, I try to have all there favorite foods and drinks in the house and for my dad this involves anything cherry. Usually I take the easy way out and make a cherry dump cake that takes no skill whatsoever. This time I decided to challege myself a little and make a cherry pie from scratch. I used my mom-mom's recipe that my mom gave me and I have always been told how hard this crust was to make. Well they were right. It took me two times and a kitchen full of flour but it finally came out. The real test will be tonight after dinner to see how it tastes! Did I mention I have a 1/2 gallon of Breyers Cherry Vanilla in the freezer as a back up? :)

Joys of Being a Home Owner

Zach works 4 hours away from our house in Sweetwater, TN. He usually works close to 50 hours in 4 days and gets up at 4am, needless to say he is usually very tired when he gets home so I try to help him out as much as I can. Today I decided to mow the lawn so he wouldn't have too this weekend and also my dad comes tomorrow so I wanted our yard to look good. The problem with this is that we have had rain the past 3 days and it was muddy and humid out plus we have hills, needless to say I got a good workout in! The one thing I love about mowing is that Diesel loves it! He will drop his ball in the mowers path and thinks its a game that I have to stop the mower each time to throw his ball for him. It is great exercise for him and he's already exhausted and taking his afternoon nap. That's all going on here, my dad comes tomorrow so I am off to clean the house!

Mexico here we come!

This morning we booked our honeymoon and I couldn't be more excited! I have never been out of the country, heck, I've never been west of TN! We are going to be staying at the Silver Sands Secrets All-Inclusive Resort for 1 week in Mexico! Zach and I aren't really beach people, heck I burn to a crisp after 1/2 hour in the sun. But he loves to fish and I love to drink margaritas by the pool all day so I think we will have a fantastic time! Now comes the hard part of preparing myself to be away from my babies, Diesel and Bella for a week. We are having to kennel Diesel one day next month and when we went to check out a kennel in Hickory, I cried while we were there just thinking about leaving him. Needless to say Zach was embarrassed and told me I couldn't go when we drop him off and that is just for one night! What am I going to do when I have to leave them for a week! I guess I have 5 months to prepare myself.

Lazy Sunday

This is my first ever blog so here goes nothing! We are pretty lazy today, Zach leaves at 5pm to head out to TN and we just finished grilling out. Zach, Daren, Diesel and I are down in the basement watching TV now, although the 3 of them are about 2 seconds from falling asleep. This upcoming week will be a busy one, my dad comes in 4 days and I need to clean, do laundry, and mow the yard before he gets here!
